Introducing Judge Asma Warsi: A Dedicated Public Servant with a Passion for Justice

As the newly appointed judge of the Edison Township Municipal Court, Asma Warsi brings with her a wealth of experience and dedication to serving the community. With a storied career spanning over two decades, Warsi has consistently demonstrated her commitment to upholding the law and advocating for those in need.

Born in Pakistan, Warsi immigrated to America at a young age and was raised in Metuchen, New Jersey. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Middle Eastern Studies from Rutgers University in 1994, followed by a Master of Arts in Near Eastern Studies from New York University in 1998.

Warsi's legal journey began when she earned her law degree from the Rutgers University School of Law in 2000. She then went on to work as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx District Attorney's Office, where she gained valuable experience working in the Appeals Bureau. Her expertise and dedication soon led her to become the executive director and director of legal affairs for the Boaz Community Corporation, a nonprofit legal services provider.

During her tenure at the corporation, Warsi represented clients on immigration matters, conducted annual outreach campaigns to social service providers on immigration law, family law, and victims' rights, and drafted briefs to the Appellate Division. She also responded to Habeas Corpus petitions, answered post-judgement motions, and Freedom of Information Act requests.

In addition to her work at the corporation, Warsi has had her own law practice since 2009 and served as an immigration law consultant from 2012 to 2020 for the nonprofit Puerto Rican Action Board. Since 2020, she has worked as the immigration services program director for Catholic Charities of Metuchen.

Throughout her career, Warsi has demonstrated a passion for public service, advocacy, and justice. Her experience and expertise will undoubtedly serve her well in her new role as a judge on the Edison Township Municipal Court.
